CLEANAWAY, a green corporation
continues the Clean the Beach campaign
After Clean the Beach campaign under the hot summer sun in July, CLEANAWAY -
the largest environmental corporation in Taiwan continues to invite our
employees and their families to join the Clean the Beach near the embankment
at Mituo District. This time, we have invited volunteers from local
fishermen's association, local communities and students from local schools.
Despite its approaching winter, with the cold sea breeze and severe
pollution near the Southern region, it did not discourage volunteers'
participation and passion for a cleaner beach. A massive one ton of waste
was collected in one morning.
The consequence of the rapid economic growth in the past is the high volume
of industrial waste being produced. In 2017, many environmental pollution
were found in various locations due to illegal dumping and can be seen in
media. CLEANAWAY, the largest certified waste management company in Taiwan,
commented "because of our long term participation and specialization in
waste management, we understand more than anyone the difficulties and
challenges in environmental protection and its maintenance and therefore we
actively encourage employee to participate in various environmental
protection related activities." Clean the Beach at Mituo District was
meaningful and we would continue to promote this campaign in the future, as
part of our contribution to the environment in Taiwan.
On the day, in additional to our employees, as many as 300 passionate
volunteers joined the event and they came from local communities and local
schools. One ton worth of ocean waste were collected, and it was
disheartening to find construction waste from illegal dumping and plastic
bottles from people. CLEANAWAY announced this will be a continuous effort
from the company to work with local Environmental Protection Bureau on
contracted beach cleaning and make corporate investment in environmental
protection. We hope we would raise public awareness on the threats of our
ocean through the Clean the Beach campaign. In the future, we plan to invite
more organizations to join the campaign, for a better and cleaner future and
for Taiwan, our home.
